A picture may be worth a thousand words, but for Albany attorney Christopher P. Rutnik an inquisitive telephone call was worth about $200,000.
A few weeks ago, a federal court jury returned a verdict in favor of Rutnik's client, a Warnerville, Schoharie County, man who was injured while installing a skylight window at a construction site in Connecticut. The jury awarded Grover Garner $475,206, but found the construction worker 40 percent liable for the accident.
The jury was dismissed, the judge left town and the attorneys assumed that the judgment would be reduced by 40 percent to account for Garner's liability. Even …
