NSW: Rivkin loses insider trading appeal
A court has ruled that former stockbroker RENE RIVKIN should NOT have his conviction
or sentence for insider trading overturned simply because it was humiliating.
The New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal today upheld RIVKIN'S conviction and sentence
on a charge of insider trading of Qantas shares.
RIVKIN was sentenced to nine months periodic detention and fined $30,000.
He appealed both the conviction and sentence on 27 grounds, including his ill health.
